The Who is Online box displays a variety of statistics about the forum. This box appears on the forum index page, as well as on each individual forum page.
The Who is Online box on the index page shows the number and usernames of people currently visiting the forum, as well as the total number of posts in the forum, the total number of registered users, the username of the last person that registered, and so forth.
The box that appears on each individual forum page only displays the people who are browsing that forum at the present time.
 Note: The Who is Online box is updated in incremental time spans (for example, every 15 minutes or so). Therefore, it might not be completely accurate at any given moment in time.
Visitors who log in and who have selected No for the Hide your online status option in their member profiles (How?) are counted as Registered users, and their usernames are displayed. Those who log in and have selected Yes for this option are counted as Hidden users; no one can see their usernames, although each Hidden user can see his/her own username in italics. Those who visit the forum without logging in at all are counted as Guests, no matter which option is selected in their member profiles.
You can click on any username that is displayed to visit the corresponding member's profile.
There is a key at the bottom of the Who is Online box that helps you distinguish what kind of user is displayed (regular member, moderator, or administrator).
