| Enabling E-mail in Your Member Profile |
If you want forum members to be able to send you e-mail messages directly from the forum, it is first necessary to enable this feature in your member profile. When you do this, an e-mail icon (shown below) appears at the bottom of all your message posts, next to your username in the Memberlist, and in your member profile.
The icon/button will look something like one of these examples:

When this feature is not enabled, the e-mail icon simply does not appear; therefore, no one can send you a message directly from the forum in this way. They can, however, send you a Private Message (How?). For more information, see About Private Messages.
When members click this icon, an e-mail form opens. Members use this form to compose and send the message, but they can only see your username in the form; they cannot see your e-mail address unless you reply to them directly from your own e-mail software. If you reply by sending them a Private Message from the forum, they will not know your e-mail address.
