 Formatting Words & Phrases
You can select options in the message creation form to format words and phrases in your messages; just follow the instructions below.

Note: The forum uses BBCode to format text. Therefore, BBCode must be enabled in order for formatted text to be displayed in your message. If you want to use smilies (emoticons), they must be enabled, as well. The Options indicator in the message creation form lets you know whether BBCode and smilies are turned on. If they are not, you can either enable them in your member profile (How?) or select the corresponding check boxes in the message creation form.
To format text inside a message:
Using the formatting tools outlined in red above, do the following:
1) In the message authoring text box, type the text that you want to format.
2) Select (highlight) that text by dragging the cursor across it.
3) Do any of the following:
• To apply bold typeface, click the B button.
• To apply italics, click the i button.
• To apply an underline, click the u button.
• To apply a text color, select one from the Font colour drop-down list.
• To apply a text size, select one from the Font size drop-down list.
Tip: You can make as many selections as you like, but do not click inside the message text box again until you have finished selecting the options you want.
The appropriate opening and closing BBCode tags surround the text automatically.
4) If you want to apply a particular color to the text, you can substitute the color code in place of the general color name in the BBCode. For a list of hexidecimal color codes, click here.
Example: To change indigo to a brighter purple, delete the word indigo and type #7D26CD in its place, as shown below.
From this: [color=indigo]your message text[/color]
To this: [color=#7D26CD]your message text[/color]
5) To format text with smilies (emoticons), place your cursor in the spot where you want an emoticon to appear and click the one you want to insert in the Emoticons list. For more information, see Inserting Smilies (Emoticons).
Tips:
If you know BBCode, you can type the tags manually, rather than using the buttons or lists. For more information, see BBCode Help.
To insert a quote into your message, see Quoting Other Posts or Offline Content.
To insert code or other fixed-width text into your message, see Quoting and outputting fixed-width text in BBCode Help.
To format a numbered (ordered) or bulleted (unordered) list, see Generating lists in BBCode Help.
To insert an image (other than a smilie) into your message, see Inserting Images.
To format a web address in your message, see Creating Links in Messages.
