 About the Outbox
Because of the way that Outboxes work in most e-mail software, you might expect the forum PM Outbox to store a message that you send to a member until it arrives in that member's Inbox; and then it would be moved to your Sentbox.

However, that is not how the PM Outbox works. Instead, your message remains in the Outbox until the PM recipient actually opens the message or saves it to his/her Sentbox to open, later. Once the recipient opens or saves your message, it is moved from your Outbox to your Sentbox.

During the time that the message is in your Outbox, you can edit it (How?) or delete it (How?). (Please note that if a member receives notification of a new Private Message and you delete it before he or she picks it up, it might cause confusion because the member will be expecting to see a new message that does not actually appear.) After the recipient opens or saves your message and it is moved to your Sentbox, its contents are no longer under your control.

Note: You cannot save messages from your Outbox. If you want to keep a copy of a message that you sent to a member, you can save it from your Sentbox after the member has opened or saved your message.
